If you are new here: Strong is my training log, made public. I am Nathan Lane Helms, I train in Oklahoma, and since 2011 I have been posting my strongman training — the lifts, the events, the bad days, all of it.
What is on this site
Hundreds of workout videos and training posts going back to 2011, organized by event: atlas stones, yoke carry, log press, farmers walk, tire flip, tire carry, sled pull, Husafell stone, Viking press, Conan wheel, and regular garage gym work. Every post is dated with real weights. Nothing here is staged or cherry-picked — PRs and grinders alike.
If you are new to strongman: the sport is built around odd, heavy implements. Instead of just barbell lifts, you press logs overhead, carry a weighted yoke on your back, lift round atlas stones onto platforms, and pull trucks and sleds. It is the closest thing to old-school feats of strength still competed today, and it is a hell of a way to train even if you never enter a contest.
The comeback
After a couple of years away from serious training, I am back at it as of fall 2026 — three days a week out of my home garage gym in the Tulsa area, rebuilding the base I had from years of strongman work. If the archives look quiet after 2020, that is why. The iron is moving again, and new posts go up as training happens: workout videos, weights, and honest notes on how each session went.
How to follow along
The latest sessions are always at the top of this page. The About page has the full story and answers to common questions. You can also browse by event using the categories — Atlas Stones, Yoke Carry, Log Press, and the rest each have their own archive going back years.
If you train strongman events in Oklahoma — or anywhere — you are in the right place. Strength: it is just a way of life.
